Another great sunset last night

Sunset

Fall colors

Clear and cold weather combined with not much rain has left us with some great (at least for the NW) fall colors.

Leaving Shilshole last weekend

Kim, I and Gina brought Lavengro back through the locks last Saturday in beautiful weather. Hopefully you got to see Lavengro on the fuel docks last weekend.

Christy’s Birthday Party

The usual outrageous party stuff on Hello World. These guys kick ass… good time. After party on Lavengro (featured in post below).

All pics up here.

… and got hammered …

Then went back to Lavengro, got really, really hammered and made pancakes.

Winston the whisker pole (aka Sledge Doghnut, aka Safety Pup, aka Safety Doghnut, aka Fuck Stick) was apparently not pleased

Ken might actually be Satan

Meet The Cheese Nun – she gets this title for doing shit like stirring her one shot with a knife and taking over an hour to drink it :)

Sailing on Lavengro

Kim captains a 1923 schooner Lavengro. We got to go out sailing in some very nice (15-20 N) wind yesterday. What an amazing boat. It’s a ton of really physical work sailing these old boats. I was really impressed that Kim took a bunch of “we don’t know jack about old school boats” and some “we don’t know jack about boats period” crew and managed to get us sailing in pretty difficult conditions with the usual added surprises like things being rigged ass backwards, everything that could get tangled, snagged, caught, undone doing so, etc. Great day though. We were hitting 8 knots on the 63′ schooner pretty regularly and we didn’t even have the jib up.

Leaving the Seattle ship canal – pretty rough for the sound.

Low Watt Boat Heater

The normal 1500 watt heaters kept blowing my circuits on the boat. Luckily I found the Lasko which has a low 900 watt setting, which is sufficient to heat a small boat to ridiculously warm even with portholes open.

Yes – I know – super exciting post.

First snow fall on the Olympics

Gorgeous, cold morning down here.

Leaky hatches and tarps

It’s that time of year. Anything that could possibly leak will start to and more and more boats will look like something from Woodstock. Fisher was fixing his hatch today when Gina, Mauri and I stopped by.

Storm Sailing

Wow! It was a bit windy yesterday. Wind finder had gusts exceeding 50 yesterday off West Point. We, of course, had to go out. Wild ride!

Full report, more pics and videos on Westsail28.com. Here’s one of the videos (by Fisher).
