The normal 1500 watt heaters kept blowing my circuits on the boat. Luckily I found the Lasko which has a low 900 watt setting, which is sufficient to heat a small boat to ridiculously warm even with portholes open.
It’s that time of year. Anything that could possibly leak will start to and more and more boats will look like something from Woodstock. Fisher was fixing his hatch today when Gina, Mauri and I stopped by.
Google analytics tells me there are at least 25 people (I’m retiring next week on the ad revenue this is generating) reading this blog (and possibly more via RSS). If you’re at Shilshole and want to contribute just register and I’ll make you an admin. This was setup as a community resource for people at Shilshole.
Lavengro is moored in Lake Union and, while Kim doesn’t live at Shilshole anymore she’s still part of the boat trash, Shilsholed, staggering gate gang. She’s been working/sailing/skippering on Levengro (a beautiful old schooner) for a while now. In the pouring rain she decided she wanted to go up the stick and work on the blocks. I have to say, the old school (i.e. tall-ship era) climbing methods would make any rock climber queasy so, while she used some questionable (but probably safe enough) methods, I rigged a pretty standard belay station on my end. Safety Pup (pic) would have been proud.
I love that Kim was wearing brown worker pants, an inside out t-shirt and a very stylish red felt hat. Classic boat trash.
Christy and Jason finally got Hello World off the dock and under sail. They’re new over on J-28 and have been working their tails off getting Hello World ready to sail. They couldn’t have had a better day than last Sunday with winds hitting 20 something… they looked great coming back from our weekend at Blake Island (more about that on White Cloud, Hello World, Westsail 28 and GO Thinks).
