Golden Gardens Drive NW has been closed since last winters storms washed it out. This adds quiet a bit to the drive if you’re coming in from the north. I went to ride up there today and they have it completely blocked off now (you used to be able to ride/walk up the road). Lots of construction equipment – so, maybe that road will be open again soon (in time to wash out again this winter).

Looks like they’re finally getting started with construction on the new Anthony’s Home Port Restaurant near the Fuel Dock. While most of the people donw here seem to want an affordable dive bar I guess Anthonys think they’ll make money – even though they have another restaurant not even a mile down the street that seems dead most of the time.
I’ve heard rumors that it’s going to be an Anthony’s light or something – not a full scale restaurant. We’ll see.

Happy Birthday Jane. Thanks for the invite last night. Had a good time.
All pictures are up in this set.

Les and Jane

Jane’s Mom was a scream – also very, very well traveled.

Kim’s been working on the Schooner Lavengro and she mentioned they’d be joining Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain over in Brownsville Monday – Wednesday for their tall ships festival. Another guy from K-dock said they were doing mock pirate battles in Lake Washington this weekend. I might head over to Brownsville to check out the happenings on Monday.
Anyway – on the way up to the showers who do I see, but Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain on the fuel dock. Pretty cool.

Paseo opened a place in the old Gordo’s location across from West Marine (as mentioned on My Ballard). I’ve been dying to try it and, after going loopy looking at food porn I had to go give it a try.
I got the Cuban. Very, very good. Very, very messy – as in not really a sandwich. Not date food.

See – I told you – not date food… unless you’re dating Pig Pen.

Sangiovese sailed up from San Diego and will be hanging around on anchor for a while. Ken V requested Fisher and I go give him a hand with some sail changes. I couldn’t stay long (Fisher did) but, Les, the owner, seemed like a nice guy. He’ll be down at the Quarter Master Harbor this weekend for the multi-boat meetup.

So – we haven’t done any dinghy racing, just mucking about in boats and drinking – and I that’s fine by me.
Supposedly there’s dinghy racing every Friday on D-dock around 6:30. I couldn’t make this Friday but plan on going next Friday.

Fisher (Q-dock) with is “not a square rigger but still can’t go up wind” dinghy (rows great though).

I think Gina was spoiled during her FJ racing days – she didn’t seem too interested in puttering about in a sailing dinghy. Nice hat!

Jane (K-dock), aka Sailmaker Chick, really seems to love sailing dinghies.

Kris (no dock, but is looking and on the waiting list) showed up to meet some Shilsholers. Nice guy – hope he finds a boat and a slip.

My neighbor Greg from K dock took off to spend the summer up at Friday Harbor and deadhead is way to work since he’s an AA pilot and can do that kind of thing (lucky bastard). We just got back from the San Juans and spotted him right off the ferry dock in Friday Harbor. Retard me didn’t have his number handy so I couldn’t hook up with him for drinks. Bummer. Anyway – he was running about on deck and looked in good condition. Must be a nice way to spend a summer.
